19-year-old fatally shot at Coon Rapids Cub Foods parking lot; 1 in custody
A man has been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting in the parking lot of Cub Foods in Coon Rapids on Sunday.
According to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office, Coon Rapids police responded to the grocery store at 2050 Northdale Blvd. NW at 4:37 p.m., where they found the victim lying in the parking lot.
First responders performed life-saving measures, but the man was declared dead.
Nearby, police arrested a man. He was transported to Mercy Hospital with minor injuries. An update Monday morning from the Anoka County Sheriff's Office says man arrested is a 19-year-old from Andover, who has yet to be formally charged in connection to the incident.
The victim has been identified as Staveonte El Brown, 19, of Coon Rapids.
The sheriff's office says there is not risk to the general public and the incident remains under investigation.
