A man, believed to be in his 30s, was fatally shot in Minneapolis Thursday night.
The Minneapolis Police Department says officers were in the area of 26th Street East and Bloomington Avenue at 10:09 p.m. when they heard a gunshot.
They ran toward the sound and were at the same time notified of a ShotSpotter activation in the area. They found a man lying in the roadway who was suffering from a gunshot wound.
Officers provided care until paramedics arrived to take over and bring the victim to the hospital, where he died a "short time" later, police said. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release his identity.
Officers spoke with several people who were in the area and homicide investigators and crime lab personnel responded to the scene to process evidence and interview additional people.
No one is in custody in connection to the shooting.
