Authorities are investigating a deadly workplace accident in Harvey Township, Meeker County.

According to a news release the local sheriff's office, it happened late Friday morning at a construction site on the 31700 block of MN Highway 22. Initial reports said a concrete boom truck tipped over, trapping two people.

One person died at the scene, while another was airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital with critical injuries. There's no word yet on the extent of the person's injuries or their current condition.

"The initial investigation revealed the stabilizing platform for the concrete boom truck gave way, causing the boom to fall to the ground," the release says. "The two individuals were struck by the boom as it fell."

First responders from multiple agencies, including from nearby Litchfield, were dispatched to the scene.

An investigation is now underway, with the Meeker County sheriff saying OSHA has been notified.

The names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of family.
