1-year-old boy dies after being accidentally run over outside Maplewood home

Family members were moving cars when tragedy struck.

A 1-year-old boy was tragically killed in Maplewood on Sunday night when he was run over by a family member as they shifted their car.

The boy has been identified by Maplewood Police Department as Andrew Her, who was pronounced dead after being taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

It happened at 9:20 p.m. Sunday, when family members were shifting their vehicles at the home on the 1900 block of Prosperity Road.

"Preliminary investigation revealed Her, who was thought to be inside the home, was struck by a vehicle as family members shifted parking places," Maplewood Police said.

“This is a terrible tragedy affecting Andrew’s parents, family, and all who knew him," Cmdr. Dave Kvam, of Maplewood police said in a press statement.

The driver of the vehicle has been cooperative, police say, and wasn't under the influence at the time.

The incident is under investigation.
