10 of 16 Pier 1 stores in Minnesota are closing
In January, news broke that Pier 1 Imports planned to close up to 450 of its stores nationwide. Now, 10 of 16 Minnesota locations appear set to close as they've been removed from Pier 1's website.
Pier 1 Imports closing in Minnesota:
- St. Paul
- Eagan
- Richfield
- Roseville
- Eden Prairie
- Coon Rapids
- Oak Park Heights
- Shakopee
- St. Cloud
- Mankato
Stores in Burnsville, Maple Grove, Minnetonka, Woodbury, Rochester and Duluth are poised to remain open.
According to the Star Tribune, the St. Cloud and Mankato stores will close at the end of the month, with precise closure dates at the eight Twin Cities stores unknown. For the time being, all set-to-close stores are offering storewide discounts of 20-40%.
The ever-changing brick-and-mortar retail landscape took another national hit this week with Macy's announcing plans to close 125 stores nationwide over the next three years, in addition to slashing approximately 2,000 corporate jobs.
There are ten Macy's stores in Minnesota: Bloomington, Burnsville, Edina (two stores), Maplewood, Minnetonka, Rochester, Roseville (two stores), St. Cloud.
It's unclear which, if any Minnesota Macy's locations will shutter.
