10-year-old Fridley girl found safe in Maple Grove

She took a car from her family's home and drove around the Twin Cities for about a day.

A 10-year-old girl from Fridley who was reported missing, possibly driving a car she took from her home, on Tuesday was found safe in Maple Grove Wednesday morning.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension reported her missing just after 4 p.m. Tuesday, noting she took a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox from her home. 

She was known to have been in Eden Prairie, Bloomington and Edina areas on Tuesday, with her last known location in the area of France Avenue South and Interstate 494 at 8 p.m. Tuesday, the Anoka County Sheriff's Office said early Wednesday. 

The Anoka County Sheriff's Office confirmed to Bring Me The News she was found safe, noting the Fridley Police Department plans to share more information. 

WCCO reports she was found safe around 10:30 a.m. after her mother saw a credit card transaction from Walmart in Maple Grove. Maple Grove police drove around the area and recognized the license plates on the family's vehicle parked at a nearby Walgreens.
