A very slow-moving St. Paul police vehicle earlier this month backed into a 101-year-old woman, who has since died, WCCO reported.

The police vehicle either "nudged or bumped" the woman, a police spokesman told the Star Tribune. It was not immediately clear how bad her injury was at that point, the spokesman said.

The incident happened at about 5 p.m. Aug. 16 when police were out on a call in the 800 block of Cleveland Avenue in St. Paul, WCCO reports. The woman, identified as Roza Sakhina of St. Paul, 101, fell to the ground after she was hit, police said. She died Thursday, the Pioneer Press reported.

Sakhina was on a regular daily walk, with her walker, when she was hit by a police SUV, Charlene Jerue told the Star Tribune. She lives in the same public housing high rise that Sakhina lived in. Jerue described Sakhina as kind, sharp-witted and healthy, the newspaper reported.

The St. Paul accident reconstruction unit is still investigating, and findings will be sent to the Ramsey County District Attorney's Office, which will consider charges, KARE 11 reported.

The officer's name will likely be released in the next day or two, KARE 11 reports.
