A 13-year-old took his grandparents' car without permission and collided with a motorcycle, and the motorcyclist died two days later, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, police say.

Investigators say that the 5:45 p.m. crash occurred when the teen, driving a 2014 Ford Fusion, tried to make a left turn and hit a man on his Harley Davidson motorcycle, KSFY reports.

The victim was identified as Jason Alan Rollings, 37, of Sioux Falls.

According to the Argus Leader, Rollings was taken to Sanford Hospital after sustaining multiple fractures in his leg, trauma to his heart and lung, and cuts. His injuries were deemed serious but not life-threatening.

However, a blood clot formed in Rollings' brain and he suffered a massive stroke Monday morning, the newspaper reports. Doctors said Rollings' would never walk or talk again. His family decided to remove him from life support, and he died Tuesday evening.

The boy had taken his grandparents' Ford Fusion without permission, police said. He has been released to his family and has not been identified.

KELO reports the boy has been charged with reckless driving, failure to yield and driving without a license.

Police Capt. Blaine Larsen told the Star Tribune the boy could be charged with a felony later on, potentially vehicular manslaughter.

"This is why we don't let 13-year-olds drive," Larsen told the newspaper.

Rollings owned Innovative Graphics and Design in Sioux Falls. His mother, Darlene Rollings, says he will be remembered as a wonderful son, husband and father.

"We lost a good person. He was hardworking. He was a talented artist," his mother said.

Visitation for Jason Rollings is scheduled for 1-7 p.m. Friday at Miller Home Funeral West. The funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday. His obituary can be found on the funeral home website.
