13-year-old girl riding bike hit by motorist in Cloquet
A 13-year-old girl riding her bike was transported to a hospital with unknown injuries after she was hit by a motorist.
The collision happened in Cloquet at approximately 1:22 p.m., according to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, which reports that the girl was struck at the intersection of Big Lake Road and Trettle Lane/Reservation Road on the west side of town.
Preliminary information shows that the girl was among three people riding bikes north on Trettle Lane. As they crossed Big Lake Road to Reservation Road, a 23-year-old driver headed west on Big Lake Road hit the girl.
The 13-year-old, who has not been identified, was treated by Cloquet Area Fire District at the scene and then taken to Essential Hospital in Duluth, where her current condition is unknown.
The motorist was not injured and did not appear to be impaired, the release said.
The crash is still under investigation.
