A teenage boy was shot in Fridley and is in a critical condition.
Fridley police officers were called to Mercy Hospital Unity around 7:05 p.m. Sunday on a report a 15-year-old with a gunshot wound came in to the emergency room, according to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office.
The boy remains at the hospital in critical condition as of Monday afternoon.
Sheriff James Stuart, in a statement, said law enforcement agencies were "keeping the victim and his family in our thoughts as we hope for a recovery.”
Authorities believe the shooting occurred on the 6000 block of Main Street in Fridley, which is about a half mile west of Fridley High School. A 17-year-old is in custody, though no charges have been filed, the sheriff's office said.
Authorities described the case as an "active investigation," and said no additional details are currently available.
