Police in St. Cloud say that 16 students were detained after fights broke out at a city high school on Wednesday.
In an update following the lunchtime altercations, St. Cloud PD said the students held by police were turned over to their parents, with charges against them pending.
They have also been suspended from school and won't be allowed to return until the investigation is completed.
There were no serious injuries resulting from the multiple fights that broke out, though police note that several did suffer minor injuries.
No weapons were used in the melee, which prompted a school resource officer to call for backup as several fights happened simultaneously.
Police will continue to review surveillance footage to determine what led up to the fight.
None of the students involved have been identified.
Tech High School only this month opened its new $104.5 million campus that houses 1,600 students.
As MPR reports, the school is designed in a way that encourages students to move into technical colleges and four-year schools with a view to embarking on careers as engineers or technicians.
