16-year-old Litchfield boy dies in single-vehicle crash

A 16-year-old boy was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Meeker County Sunday morning.

According to the Meeker County Sheriff's Department, Marcus Huhn of Litchfield was driving northbound on County Road 9 in Darwin Township when his 2001 Ford Focus went into the ditch, hit a field approach and ejected Huhn from the vehicle around 9:30 a.m.

Huhn was taken to Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield where he died from his injuries.

Sheriff Brian Cruze said the teenager wasn't wearing his seatbelt, according to the West Central Tribune.

There have been more than 50 fatalities on the roads in Minnesota so far in 2016, according to the Star Tribune.
