17-year-old driver admits to crashing into school bus, fleeing the scene in St. Cloud

No one was injured in a crash involving a car and school bus on Friday, but St. Cloud police have ticketed a 17-year-old driver who fled the scene after slamming into the side of the bus. 

According to St. Cloud Police Department, a school bus carrying six students was hit at the intersection of 22nd St. S. and Shannon Dr. just before 3:45 pm. Friday. 

The 60-year-old bus driver told police he was turning left onto Shannon Dr. when a Hyundai traveling at a high rate of speed tried to pass on the left, but instead collided with the middle of the bus on the driver's side.

The teen then backed up and fled the scene only to be found about three hours later on the 700 block of 8th Ave. S.

They admitted to being involved in the crash and were ticketed for failing to stop at the scene of an accident. 

Fortunately, the driver and six students on the bus were not injured. Police have not disclosed which school the bus is associated with.
