17-year-old killed in 2-car crash in Willmar
A 17-year-old Willmar girl died a day after she was involved in a car crash.
Ryleigh June Andreen died Aug. 16 while in the hospital, from injuries sustained in a crash with another vehicle the day prior.
Ryleigh was driving south on 30th Street Northwest, south of 15th Avenue Northwest, when she crossed the center turn lane and crashed into another vehicle, driven by a 20-year-old from Willmar, according to media reports. Ryleigh had to be extricated from the vehicle, while the other driver did not require medical attention.
According to her obituary, Ryleigh grew up in New London and attended New London-Spicer High School. She participated in dance and was working as a cook at McMillian's Family Restaurant in Willmar, and was a babysitter.
"She loved dance, the outdoors, ice fishing with her dad, spending time with her siblings and shopping with her mom. She will be remembered for her kind, loving nature, genuine care for others and huge heart for all around her," her obituary says.
A funeral for Ryleigh is being held on Tuesday at Peace Lutheran Church in New London, where Ryleigh was a member.
Willmar police are investigating the crash.
