18-year-old crossing the street fatally struck by driver in Alexandria

An 18-year-old crossing a street in Alexandria died after being hit by the driver of a car on Friday night. 

According to Alexandria Police Department, the accident happened at approximately 10:03 p.m. as the woman attempted to cross McKay Ave. between 3rd and 6th streets. 

The driver of the 1994 Mercury Marquis, a 19-year-old man from Alexandria, immediately stopped and call 911. The woman was transported to a local hospital before being airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital where she was pronounced dead. 

The 18-year-old's identity has not been released.
