An 18-year-old died in a crash involving a semi in west-central Minnesota on Sunday afternoon.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the collision happened just after 12:40 p.m. on County Road 18 just west of Hwy. 104 in a rural area south of Glenwood in Pope County.

The crash report says 18-year-old Josiah M. Wright, of Starbuck, was driving a 2007 Pontiac G6 westbound on County Round 18 when he crossed the centerline and collided head-on with an eastbound semi tractor/trailer.

Wright was ejected from the car and died at the scene. The State Patrol says he was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the semi, a 35-year-old Paynesville man, also was not wearing a seat belt and was treated at Paynseville Hospital for injuries that are not life-threatening.
