An 18-year-old high school senior was found dead outside her home in Austin, Minnesota, over the weekend.

Austin Police Department says the body of 18-year-old Erica Manzano was discovered by her father outside her home in the 800 block of 8th Ave. SW around 8:45 a.m. Saturday.

Officers responded to the scene where they found a 20-year-old man on the roof. The man fled but was arrested a short time later. Police Chief David McKichan tells Bring Me The News that it would be incorrect to say the man is a suspect at this point in the case, although he did confirm that Manzana and the 20-year-old were acquaintances.

The man was taken into custody on a probation hold, with the Austin Daily Herald reporting that his probation violation is for June charges of felony 2nd-degree assault with a  dangerous weapon, felony terroristic threats, and misdemeanor domestic assault.

"There were no obvious signs of any trauma or violence at the time leading up to her death. We do believe that falling from the roof or something similar would have been something that would've come out in the medical examination," said McKichan.

"We are waiting for toxicology test results in order to help us get closer to determining cause of death."

Manzano's obituary says "enjoyed singing in the choir, taking pictures/photography, listening to music, taking walks and going shopping."

"She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends," the obituary adds.
