19-year-old woman killed in crash on I-35W in Burnsville

She was one of 2 young adults to die on Minnesota roads in less than 12 hours.

A teenage woman was killed in a crash on I-35W in Burnsville on Saturday.

Kayli Kim Thompson, 19, of Burnsville, was a passenger in a Ford Fusion that left the freeway at 7:20 a.m.

The Ford hit the sound wall before coming to rest in a ditch, the State Patrol said.

Thompson died from her injuries, with the 20-year-old male driver, from Prior Lake, suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment.

It happened less than 12 hours after another fatal crash on Minnesota roads, which happened around 10 p.m. in Racine Township south of Rochester.

A 21-year-old Stewartville man died when his motorcycle left County Road 8 and hit a driveway in wet conditions.

His identity will be released on Monday.
