Trial set for Minn. man charged in La Crosse photo shop slayings

A Minnesota man accused of killing a La Crosse, Wis., camera store owner and his 19-year-old son last September is set to stand trial in May, the Associated Press reports. Jury selection is scheduled to begin on May 3.

Jeffrey P. Lepsch of Dakota, Minn., is charged with first-degree homicide, armed robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Investigators say he fatally shot Paul Petras, 56, and his 19-year-old son, A.J., inside May’s Photo and stole thousands of dollars worth of camera equipment.

Robbery seems to be the motive behind the murder of a LaCrosse photo store owner and his son last month. According to a criminal complaint, 39-year-old Jeffrey P. Lepsch of Dakota, Minn. was charged with two counts of first-degree homicide, armed robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm. La Crosse police are looking for a suspect or suspects responsible for a double homicide at a downtown photo shop Saturday. Owner of May's Photo, 56-year-old Paul Petras, and his 19-year-old son, A.J., were found shot to death at the store. Authorities are looking for anyone that saw anything unusual in the area as no arrests have been made.
