Trial set for promoter of Stillwater's defunct Lumberjack Days
David Eckberg will stand trial on theft and fraud charges this summer in Washington County District Court, according to the Stillwater Patch.
The former organizer of the now defunct Lumberjack Days along the St. Croix River in Stillwater is facing 10 felony counts. He's accused of taking more than $40,000 from the summer festival and writing nearly $55,000 in bad checks.
Last June, Eckberg and his wife filed for personal bankruptcy. Court documents listed more than 100 creditors, totaling more than $2.4 million.
After 18 years, the city cancelled last year’s event citing unpaid bills, pending litigation and public disapproval.
