2 arrested after shooting critically wounds man near Litchfield

A 34-year-old man suffered critical injuries in a shooting south of Litchfield in rural Meeker County late Sunday night. 

The gunshot victim was transported to Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield just before 11 p.m. Sunday, then was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. His current condition is unknown. 

The Meeker County Sheriff's Office says investigators have preliminarily determined that the shooting happened happened on the 23900 block of Hwy. 22, just south of Litchfield. 

Circumstances that led to the gunfire haven't been disclosed, but law enforcement arrested an 18-year-old man from rural Grove City and an 18-year-old from rural Litchfield. 

Both 18 year olds have been booked into the Meeker County Jail on pending criminal charges. 

No further information has been released.
