Two 3-year-old boys are recovering after they wandered onto their neighbor's property in Battle Lake, Minn. and were trampled by several buffalo Friday morning.

WDAY reports the small herd of buffalo sit in a pasture that's enclosed by a six-foot tall fence that "could hold back a car," according to the property owner.

The two boys managed to bypass the fence and enter the pasture as their mother slept at home. The buffalo became agitated, causing injuries to the boys.

Their mother eventually found her sons and called for help, according to WDAZ.

The Otter Tail County Sheriff told the Fargo Forum that both boys were conscious when officers arrived on scene. One of the three-year-olds was airlifted to Sanford Health in Fargo.

Their conditions are not known, according to the Associated Press.
