Police have confirmed that one of the children who fell from an apartment window in south Minneapolis has died in hospital.
Police spokesman John Elder updated media with the latest on the incident, saying: "Our hearts go out to those who are affected by this tragedy."
Both of the children involved are younger than 4-years-old. The child's victim will be released at a later stage by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.
"We remind people to please ensure ... that you keep your windows, sliding glass doors, and other areas secure, so that young children ... remain safe," Elder added.
Two children are in critical condition in a Minneapolis hospital after falling from an apartment window on Thursday afternoon.
Responders were called to the 2800 block of Pleasant Avenue South to a report of two children having fallen from a building window.
Police, fire, and paramedics arrived at the scene and took over first aid from bystanders, with the children taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with serious injuries.
The ages of the children could not be confirmed at this stage, nor how they came to have fallen out of the window.
Police spokesman John Elder could also not provide details as to their parents' whereabouts at the time it happened.
More information is expected to be released later on Thursday.
