Children missing from Southdale Center found safe

The two young children had been reported missing after 4:30 p.m. Friday.

The two children have been found safe, Edina PD says.

"The two missing children have been found safe, because of social media and everyone who helped get the word out," Edina PD said. "It was confirmed that they spent the night with an extended family member. Thank you to everyone who helped."


Edina Police Department tweeted that the children may have been located. They are attempting to confirm the latest. 

7:40 A.M.

Authorities are asking the public to keep an eye out for two young children who were last seen at an Edina mall on Friday. 

Pictured above, 2-year-old boy, Mika-il Compton, and 6-year-old girl, Zaynab Compton, haven't been seen since approximately 4:30 p.m., when they were at Southdale Center in Edina. 

The 2-year-old boy is described by police as black with brown eyes and short black hair; he was last seen wearing a black T-shirt with a white, red and lime green design on the front. He was also wearing black Nike shorts and black Adidas tennis shoes with white stripes. 

The 6-year-old girl is described by police as black with brown eyes and black hair. She is approximately 4 feet tall and weights 68 pounds. 

She was last seen with her hair in a pony tail and wearing a white short-sleeve shirt with white bows on each shoulder, along with white bike shorts with a pink and blue flower, and pink Crocs.
