2 dead, 1 injured in Apple Valley apartment shooting

Circumstances that led to the shooting are unclear at this point.

Police responding to a report of a weapons call at an Apple Valley apartment Wednesday night found a person injured and two others dead.

According to Apple Valley police, the incident was reported at 8:42 p.m. at an apartment building on the 7600 block of 157th Street West, where multiple 911 callers reported seeing a man in the hallway with a handgun, and some callers reporting gunshots.

Officers entered the apartment building and found a man in the hallway suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, then found a second victim – a woman – dead inside a nearby apartment. She had been shot, police said.

Police then executed a search warrant to another apartment in the building and found the man who lives there dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The victim who was found in the hallway was transported to a hospital and is expected to survive.

Police continue to investigate the shooting and say there is no threat to the community. The identities of the victims have not been released.
