2 dead, 2 injured in head-on crash between trucks in west-central Minnesota

It happened Friday morning in Renville County.

A head-on crash between two pickup trucks killed left two people dead and two others injured on Friday morning in Renville County, the Minnesota State Patrol reports.

The crash report says a Chevy Silverado traveling southbound on Hwy. 71 near Renville County Road 11 crossed the center line and struck a northbound Toyota Tundra head-on.

Joel Patrick Trebesch, 50, of Kandiyohi was driving the Silverado. Mark Andrew Tanhoff, 50, of Renville was driving the Toyota. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two passengers in the Toyota were injured, including a 47-year-old woman from Renville who suffered life-threatening injuries. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to the crash report. Another passenger, a 38-year-old man from Minneapolis, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

As of Saturday, there have been 297 traffic deaths on Minnesota roads in 2018. There were 284 deaths on Minnesota roads at the same point last year, according to the Minnesota Department of Traffic Safety
