Two men were killed in a head-on collision in southeastern Minnesota as one of the drivers tried to pass another vehicle.

The incident happened around 11 a.m. Saturday on the 7900 block of Valleyhigh Road Northwest in Kalmar Township, Olmsted County.

Upon first responders arriving, one of the drivers was already dead and the other was in a critical condition. The second died a short time after at the scene despite the best lifesaving efforts of first responders.

The victims have been identified as Gary Eisentrager, 73, of Byron, Minnesota, and Kyle Love, 29, of Keller, Texas.

Further investigation by police determined that the Jaguar SUV driven by Love was traveling west on Valleyhigh Road when he attempted to pass other westbound vehicles.

He then struck the eastbound Saturn Vue driven by Eisentrager nearly head-on.

"At this time, there is no clear indication of alcohol or controlled substance use by either driver and seat belt use is still to be determined in the follow up investigation," the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office said.
