2 dead in Wadena County house fire, boy survives

The fire was reported around 3:50 a.m. Sunday.

Two people died in a house fire in Wadena early Sunday morning. 

According to the Wadena Fire Department, the fire was reported in Section 32 of Wadena Township at 3:50 a.m., with first responders arriving at the scene to find a boy with minor injuries outside the burning home. 

Firefighters then entered the home and located two adults, who were taken out of the home before lifesaving measures were attempted. The attempts, however, were unsuccessful and both died at the scene. 

The boy was taken to Tri-County Health Care and released a short time later. The adults were transported by Karvonen Funeral Home to the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy. 

Wadena Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal continue to investigate the cause of the fire. No further information has been released.
