Two people were killed Saturday night when they were ejected from their motorcycle after smashing into an oncoming car.

The motorcycle was traveling south near Highway 47 and 253rd Avenue Northwest in Stanford Township around 10 p.m. Saturday when it crossed the centerline and hit a northbound car head-on, the State Patrol's incident report says.

Steven Gohr, 61, and his passenger, 47-year-old Anita Kemp, both of Andover, were ejected from the motorcycle and sustained fatal injuries, the report notes.

It's not known if the two were wearing helmets or if alcohol was involved in the crash.

There were four people, including two children ages 11 and 15 who are all from Cambridge, in the Ford Taurus at the time of the crash. They were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

This is the second fatal motorcycle crash in Isanti County less than a week. On May 14, a motorcyclist left the roadway and hit a mailbox and then landed on a guide wire for a utility pole, the Isanti County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Joshua Pearson, 39, of Cambridge, was deceased at the scene.

Earlier this month, the state Department of Public Safety called the start to the 2015 motorcycle riding season the deadliest on record.

At least 14 people have been killed in motorcycle accidents so far this year.
