2 fatal crashes on Highway 65 between Ham Lake, Isanti
There were two deadly car crashes on Highway 65 just north of the Twin Cities metro area on Friday afternoon.
The first happened around 3:10 p.m. in Ham Lake, with the second fatal collision reported by the Minnesota State Patrol not long after 6 p.m.
At 3:08 p.m., ,a multi-vehicle crash shut was reported at the intersection of Hwy. 65 and Crosstown Blvd. NE in Ham Lake.
"Early indications show that two pickup trucks were traveling southbound on Highway 65 NE near the Crosstown Blvd NE intersection when a crash occurred. One individual was declared deceased at the scene. An adult female and juvenile female were transported to Mercy Hospital with non-life threatening injuries," the Anoka County Sheriff's Office said in a release.
The second fatal crash happened on northbound Hwy. 65 at 278th Lane Northeast in Isanti.
According to a crash report from the State Patrol, a 25-year-old Cambridge woman was driving 2000 Buick LeSabre northbound on Hwy. 65 when she struck a freightliner that was crossing the highway at 278th Lane NE.
The 25-year-old died in the crash. Her full identity has not yet been released.
The driver of the semi, a 32-year-old man from Dallas, Texas, was not injured.
