2 held after human remains found in rural Minnesota

It follows the disappearance of a man in North Dakota.

Police searching for a missing North Dakotan man found human remains in rural Minnesota and arrested two people.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office issued an update on the search for Troy Edmund Yarbrough, 41, of Wahpeton, North Dakota, on Friday afternoon.

Yarbrough was last seen in the company of a 39-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman.

On Wednesday, authorities searched a property on 70th Avenue North in Hitterdal belonging to the 39-year-old man, with the Red River Valley Regional SWAT team called in to secure the suspect and the property.

The search resulted in the finding of what appeared to be human remains, which have been sent to the Ramsey County Medical Center for identification.

It's not been confirmed yet if the remains are those of Yarbrough.

The man and woman are being held as people of interest in the case.

The investigation continues.
