2 injured after pool chemical leak in Burnsville

Residents in two of the buildings were evacuated.

An apartment complex in Burnsville was partially evacuated after a chemical leak in its pool on Friday morning.

The leak was reported at 9 a.m. at the Carrington Court Apartments at 700 Evergreen Drive, with crews arriving to find chemicals were "actively leaking, causing health concerns for residents and firefighters."

The Burnsville Fire Department says two people were minor injuries were taken to a local hospital in a stable condition.

The residents of the buildings at 720 and 760 Evergreen Drive have been evacuated while the scene is recovered.

As of 2:30 p.m. they haven't been allowed back in, with the City of Burnsville saying it's "undetermined" when the scene will have been cleared.

Residents of unaffected apartment buildings and nearby homes are allowed back provided they use on-street parking.

The fire department is being assisted at the scene by the Dakota County Special Operations HazMat Team. 

Officials haven't confirmed what kind of chemicals are leaking.
