2 kids among 3 shooting victims at Maplewood apartment

Three people were injured in a shooting at a Maplewood apartment complex Wednesday afternoon. 

Maplewood Police has confirmed that the shooting happened around 4:58 p.m. at the Maplewood Gardens apartments on the 400 block of McKnight Road South, with police confirming that one suspect was taken into custody. 

Police have not released any other details, but the Star Tribune, citing emergency dispatch audio, reports that the victims are a 21-year-old man who was shot in the chest and face, along with a 12-year-old boy and a 15-year-old of undetermined sex, both of whom were shot in the chest.

These details are yet to be officially confirmed, and their conditions are unknown. 

According to KSTP, a fight after the shooting happened at Regions Hospital in St. Paul,, leading to a brief lockdown, which was confirmed by hospital officials. 

WCCO is reporting that the fight involved family of one of the victims and family of the suspect, and it happened in a hospital parking lot.
