Two people were killed and four others – including a 5-year-old and an 8-year-old – were seriously injured in a head-on collision in Otter Tail County.

Minnesota State Patrol officials said the 6:40 p.m. crash was in the area of Highway 108 and County Road 16, WCCO reported.

Investigators say they believe a 1997 Chrysler Cirrus went southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 108 and struck a 2001 Ford Excursion, WCCO reports.

The two killed were the 34-year-old driver of the Chrysler and a 26-year-old passenger, KBRF AM radio reported. They were both from Deer Creek, the station reports.

Valley News Live reports that two people in the Ford, Laura and Grant Smith of Henning, Minn., were among those hurt.
