Two people are dead and two injured after an alleyway crash in north Minneapolis on Friday evening.

The incident happened in the area of Lowry and Penn Avenue North just before 8 p.m. and it came shortly after a hit-and-run crash was reported nearby.

Police observed two vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed, and pulled one of them over at West Broadway and Russell Avenue North. It turned out to be the victim of the reported hit-and-run, who was chasing the van who hit their car.

The van didn't stop but police found it a short time later after it crashed in an alleyway between Penn and Queen Avenues.

The van hit two telephone poles and car parked on the right hand side of the alleyway, Minneapolis police said.

One person in the van was killed in the crash, as was one from the parked car, who was apparently getting out of the vehicle when their car was hit.
