2 killed in fiery overnight crash in Anoka County

A vehicle crashed into a tree and caught fire.

Two people were killed in an overnight crash north of the Twin Cities metro area. 

The crash happened around 1:10 a.m. in the area of 229th Ave. NW and Arrowhead St. in St. Francis, with the Anoka County Sheriff's Office reporting that first responders arrived to the scene and found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames. 

The St. Francis Fire Department put out the fire and found two people dead inside the vehicle. It's believed that the vehicle was headed west on 229th Ave. NW when it went into the ditch, struck a tree and caught fire. 

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash, and the identities of the victims are expected to be released at a later time.
