A rollover crash in Shoreview claimed two lives in the early hours of Thursday, police have confirmed.

The crash happened on the 3400 block of Victoria Street, near the intersection with Cottage Place, at around 12:45 a.m., the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office confirmed.

A single car left the road and rolled over, landing on a residential front lawn.

Both occupants died, and they've been identified as 21-year-old Analisa D. Leal, of Roseville, and 34-year-old Jose Antonia Sandoval Campiz, of New Brighton.

Neither of the pair was wearing a seat belt, police say, but alcohol is not believed to be a factor at this stage.

Police couldn't say whether the vehicle was speeding either, noting only that posted speed limit on the street is 35mph.

Leal's family has been posting pictures of her on social media, with tributes from those who knew her posted in the comments.

Her Facebook page states that she was a server at La Casita Mexican Restaurant in Columbia Heights, and formerly attended Roseville High School.

Police spokesman John Eastham said the "very sad" incident comes at a time when police departments across the state are embarking on seat belt enforcement campaigns.

Memorial Day also marks the start of the 100 deadliest days on Minnesota roads, which ends on Labor Day. Last year, 16 people who weren't wearing seat belts died in car accidents during that period.
