Police are investigating after two people were found dead in Orono Wednesday morning.
According to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, the discovery was reported at 8:31 a.m., with authorities confirming that the bodies of a male and female were found inside a home on the 1700 block of Shoreline Drive.
"Crime scene investigators are in the beginning stages of the processing the scene. This is an active investigation," the sheriff's office said in a release.
The property at 1700 Shoreline Drive is owned by prominent Twin Cities businessman Irwin Jacobs and his wife Alexandra, judging by Hennepin County property records.
The Lakeshore Weekly News reports that the bodies are those of Irwin and Alexandra Jacobs, citing a family friend. This has not been confirmed by authorities.
Police have confirmed that a gun was found at the scene.
Jacobs once owned a minority share of the Minnesota Vikings in the 1980s, in addition to buying and selling Grain Belt beer company, as well as finding financial success liquidating faltering companies. He still owns multiple businesses, KARE 11 reports.
The property at 1700 Shoreline Drive is a sprawling, 12,874 square foot mansion set on 32 acres of land on Tanager Lake.
Causes of death and identification will come at a later stage from the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.
