Two of the five Pitbull puppies taken when a animal rescue group's van was stolen have been returned – and a reward is on offer for the remaining three.

Twin Cities nonprofit RPAW (Rescued Pets Are Wonderful) posted a "pupdate" on its Facebook page Thursday morning revealing that two of the missing puppies were handed in at a gas station in Hugo, Minnesota.

"We are beyond happy but are still very much concerned about the 3 others," the update said. "They were so hungry and will be going to the vet today for check ups."

On Wednesday, the nonprofit had launched a GoFundMe drive to raise enough money so that it would be able to offer rewards for the dogs' return, as well as cover the cost of some of the damage done to the stolen van.

As of Thursday morning, a total of $860 had been raised, well above the $500 target.

As a result, director Liz Gigler told the Star Tribune that there is now a $200 per puppy reward for their return, with "no questions asked" by the group.

"These pups mean the world to us and we just want them back safe," another update on Facebook said. "We are not out to prosecute anyone. Please please please give them back!"

Gigler had put the puppies in the RPAW van in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Maplewood as she prepared to take them to a foster home, only to find the van stolen when she went outside.

Anyone with information on the dogs' whereabouts can email RPAW at info@rpaw.org.
