2 Rochester high schoolers chosen to sing at DNC

Two high schoolers from Rochester are heading to Philadelphia next week with hopes of singing the national anthem at the Wells Fargo Center during the Democratic National Convention.

Emma Archbold, 16, and Stella Schram, 15, attend Lourdes High School and Mayo High School respectively.

They'll be representing Minnesota as "choir delegates" at the "Let Freedom SING!" Girl choir National Convention.

It's a pretty prestigious opportunity. Only two young women from each state get to be part of the 100-person choir.

Archbold and Schram are both part of Bella Voce Young Women's Choir in Rochester.

According to the Post Bulletin, that choir was chosen – out of all the choirs in the state – to pick two delegates to send. And the choir teacher made her pick.

"I knew that they would put the time and work into it to make it the best possible experience for themselves, for the singers around them and also represent Minnesota well," Choir Director Shelly Winemiller told the paper.

The choir convention runs Sunday through Friday, overlapping with the Democratic National Convention that's happening in the same city.

But the group's blog doesn't say they've been scheduled to sing the national anthem there yet – just that the choir has blocked off time Thursday night with hopes of being invited.

However, they've already landed a couple gigs at the DNC. On Tuesday the girls will make an appearance at ARTSspeak@DNC. And Wednesday they'll perform at the Heritage Festival.

You can see the girls' full schedule of events here.
