2 seriously injured after dirt bike crashes into fence

Two people riding on a dirt bike in LeSueur County Saturday night were seriously injured when they ran into a barbed-wire fence and were thrown from the vehicle.

According to WCCO, the accident happened around 11 p.m. Saturday night on Lake Sandborn Road in Lanesburgh Township.

Officials say the driver of the dirt bike, 30-year-old Brian Svoboda of Montgomery, lost control of the vehicle and it struck a barbed-wire fence. He and his passenger, 21-year-old Taylor Bonstrom of Prior Lake, were both thrown from the bike.

Emergency crews responded to the scene around 11 p.m., and the two were taken by helicopter to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, KSTP reports. Both of them are in critical condition, according to KSTP.

The Star Tribune notes that Svoboda has several citations on his driving record, including four speeding violations and two convictions for drunk driving.

The accident is still under investigation.
