2 teens shot in carjacking in Columbia Heights

Two people were shot in a carjacking in Columbia Heights early Monday morning, according to the Columbia Heights Police Department. 

Police say the carjacking happened at approximately 5:35 a.m. near 42nd Avenue and Fillmore Street, with two teenagers inside the vehicle being shot and then their vehicle stolen. 

Columbia Heights police say a 17-year-old male from Maple Grove called 911 and reported that he and a 16-year-old boy from Brooklyn Park had been shot. Both were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center with what were believed to be non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. 

The carjackers are described as a Hispanic male and a Hispanic female. The stolen vehicle is a 2016 white Jeep Patriot with Minnesota license plate AWF385.
