Crews on Wednesday continued to search for one of two Minneapolis truckers whose rig plunged from a snowy Interstate 94 bridge into a western Wisconsin river on Tuesday.

Crews are treating the search as a recovery operation, the Pioneer Press reported.

Emergency workers recovered the body of driver Batrodin A. Siyad, 25, found in the cab of the tractor in the Red Cedar River near Menomonie, State Patrol officials said. His co-driver Mohammed O. Malin, 26, was still missing. The two were described as best friends, the Star Tribune reported.

“We don’t know why it occurred, if it was slippery roads, if the driver was tired, if there was evasive action taken because we have no witnesses to the event,” Wisconsin State Patrol Lt. Jeff Lorentz said, WCCO reported.

I-94 eastbound near exit 41 was closed for much of Tuesday morning as crews spent about five hours removing the truck from the river, WCCO reported.

The semi the men were driving is registered to Dashman's Transport LLC of Lansing, Mich., KARE 11 reported.

KSTP is among the stations with video of the rig in the river:
