Investigators are still seeking leads in the case of "Baby Angel," the Winona Daily News reports.
Thursday marked the two-year anniversary of the discovery of the body of the infant found floating in the Mississippi River six miles south of Winona. The 7-pound baby had not been in the water long, investigators believe. She was found a family boating in the area. The child was inside a canvas bag that also contained several items, including an eye pendant and porcelain angels.
“We’d like to remind people,” Winona County Sheriff Dave Brand told the Daily News. “We hope somebody might remember something.”
Nearly 200 people, including many law enforcement officers, attended the child's funeral in April 2012. Many attendees wept for the girl they never knew.
Anyone who believes they might have information is urged to call the Winona County Sheriff’s Department at 507-457-6368 or leave an anonymous tip at the county’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 507-457-6530.
