2 youths arrested for stealing ambulance, leading police on chase

Two juveniles were taken into custody after stealing an ambulance and leading police on a chase in northern Minnesota.

The incident unfolded in the early hours of Sunday morning, with police called at 1:18 a.m. after a Red Lake Ambulance was stolen from the Red Lake Hospital.

A Beltrami County deputy came upon the stolen ambulance at County Road 15 and County Road 22 in Northern Township.

When the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, it increased its speed in an attempt to evade police.

Eventually a deputy and a Bemidji police officer were able to use tire deflation devices to stop the ambulance north of U.S. 71 on Irvine Avenue.

The two juveniles were taken into custody. No details about them have been released.
