21-year-old killed in crash with semi on Highway 12 near Montrose

A 21-year-old man is dead following a crash involving a semi on Highway 12 west of the Twin Cities. 

The crash happened around 6:45 a.m. Friday in Franklin Township, Wright County, when a car lost control on the wet roadway and crossed over the center line and collided with a semi-tractor traveling eastbound on Hwy. 12 near Montrose. 

The driver of the car – a 2009 Pontiac Vibe – has been identified as a 21-year-old man from Buffalo, Minnesota. No further information about his identity has been released. 

The driver of the semi, a 53-year-old St. Paul man, was transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The crash happened near where highways 12 and 25 meet, which is located about two miles east of Montrose, or about five miles northwest of Delano.
