The search for a driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run is on after a 21-year-old man was killed in northwest Minnesota early Saturday morning.
The hit-and-run happened just after 1 a.m. on Hwy. 78 south of Ottertail City in Ottertail County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Three males were walking south on the northbound shoulder of the highway when one them tripped and fell into the northbound lane.
Tragically, the 21-year-old was hit by a vehicle and died at the scene. His name has not been released, but the State Patrol says he is from Wahpeton, North Dakota.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the young man did not stop and continued northbound on the highway.
The two people the victim was walking with informed the State Patrol that the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run was a smaller sedan, possibly silver or white in color and resembled a Chevy Cavalier.
Authorities note that the vehicle will have front-end damage and a fluid leak.
Anyone with information is asked to call Sgt. Rod Eischens at 218-846-8244.
