22-year-old man shot in the leg while hunting near Willmar

He was in a group of small game hunters when he was shot.

Authorities are investigating after a hunter was shot in the leg just before 10 a.m. Saturday in rural Minnesota. 

A news release from the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office says 22-year-old Mitchel Macik, 22, of rural Hector, was shot in the leg by a small caliber rifle while out with a group of small game hunters. 

They were hunting in the 8900 block of 53rd Street Southeast in Fahlun Township, which is about 10 miles southeast of Willmar. 

Macik suffered an injury not considered life-threatening and he was taken to Rice Hospital in Willmar by a private vehicle.
