24 Target stores in the Twin Cities close 'until further notice' amid unrest

The move was made to protect employees in the wake of protests and looting.

Target on Lake Street was looted and signifcantly damaged during a riot. 

Target has closed 24 stores throughout the Twin Cities metro area early Thursday as a precaution to riots and looting that have impacted Target stores in multiple metro area locations. 

"At this time, we have made the decision to close a number of our stores until further notice. Our focus will remain on our team members’ safety and helping our community heal," a statement from Target said. 

Stores that are now closed include:

"We are heartbroken by the death of George Floyd and the pain it is causing our community," the statement said.
