A hefty reward is now being offered to anyone who can help solve a murder case in northern Minnesota.

Brian Nelson, 60, was murdered in July 2017 inside his home behind The Bottle Shop liquor store in Hibbing. Nelson owned the liquor store and his murder happened during Hibbing's Jubilee Community Festival sometime between Saturday, July 8 and Monday, July 10.

The festival is scheduled to take place again this weekend, and with that authorities are offering a reward of up to $25,000 in hopes of someone coming forward with information to help solve the murder.

More information on how to participate in helping solve the murder will be released Thursday morning.

Nelson was a lifetime Hibbing resident, according to police, and has been described by family and friends as a "kind, caring person."

"They, along with customers, had a hard time fathoming why someone would want to hurt Nelson," the police press release said.

Friends told WDIO that Nelson was a "nice, unassuming guy" who always had a smile on his face, always had time to chat with customers, and "love his dog, named Dodo."
